Its Scrutiny Committees contribute to the Council’s decision making processes by representing the interests of citizens and stakeholders of Cardiff and holding the Council’s decision-making body to account. It supports the shaping of policy, ensuring that resources are used responsibly and enables the views of the citizens of Cardiff to be heard.
Responsibilities:
- Cardiff Council is looking for a talented individual to join its highly-regarded scrutiny team, where you will be investigating some of the key challenges facing the City and examining the Council’s policies to address them
- The role of the Principal Scrutiny Officer involves the provision of effective support to the Council’s Scrutiny process through the undertaking of in-depth enquires and investigations into strategic policy and service delivery issues.
- On a day to day basis, you will be liaising with Members and Officers, gathering and analysing evidence from a range of sources, developing and maintaining relationships with stakeholders, and formulating credible recommendations.
Requirements:
- The successful applicant will be able to undertake research and will have experience of analysing and interpreting complex information, performance planning and objective setting.
- Their verbal and written skills experience will enable them to communicate information in a way that can be easily understood by others.
- They must be able to prioritise work and meet deadlines, often under pressure, whilst maintaining good relationships with others.
- They will be able to demonstrate their commitment to their own professional development and to those they work with.
