Position Title: SENIOR PARENT GROUP FACILITATOR

Job Description:

Flying Start is part of Cardiff’s Early Help Service and is a Welsh Government funded programme targeted at children under 4 years of age and their families who live in certain areas of Cardiff defined by postcode.

Responsibilities:

  • The Flying Start Senior Parenting Groups Facilitator is responsible for supporting the Area Team Leader in the effective coordination and delivery of a menu of Parenting Programmes delivered in community venues across Flying Start areas of Cardiff.
  • Programmes can be formal following a format over 8-10 weeks or have and informal drop in approach such as Stay and Play sessions.

Requirements:

  • Candidates must have experience in the delivery of evidence based Parenting Programmes and a comprehensive knowledge of the developmental needs of children.
  • A L3 qualification in Children’s Care, Learning, Play and Development is essential (see the job description and personal specification for further details relating to qualifications).
  • A comprehensive understanding of (and enhanced experience in dealing with) safeguarding issues in relation to children and their families is necessary.
  • Candidates must have excellent communication skills and the ability to plan, assess and evaluate their work, they must have the ability to be positive in approach and turn challenging situations around; supporting and encouraging others through uncertainty or change.
  • A clean driving licence and access to a vehicle is essential, as the role requires travel across all areas of the city.
