Position Title: Automation Engineer

Job Description:

To provide and manage the design, procurement, installation, testing and subsequent maintenance and support of automation systems within the Zinnat Supply Chain (Ulverston and Barnard Castle) and to ensure that they continue to comply with business and regulatory requirements.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage and implement the delivery of the automation aspect(s) of capital projects.
  • Provide support as required to ensure control system are highly available for the business.
  • Apply company procedures to ensure that the system is delivered, installed and tested to comply with validation requirements and HSE legislation.
  • Design solutions for a complete project scope using PLC, DCS & SCADA, including control philosophy and systems level design.
  • Prepare and approve specifications, test protocols, or other documents to define functionality, or tests.
  • Implement PLC & DCS code i.e. ladder & sequential code to an outline spec.
  • Configure SCADA systems.
  • Ensure that installed control systems continue to meet the needs of the business by liaison with the Operations Area staff, coordinating or implementing change as agreed and maintaining the validated state throughout the lifecycle of the process.
  • Provide technical leadership in one or more discipline area, and take technical responsibility for other staff, GSK & contract, as appropriate to the situation, normally in project environments.

Requirements:

  • A minimum of an Engineering HNC, or equivalent
  • Proven experience of working in an engineering role, preferably with experience and understanding of Control Systems and Instrumentation.
  • Experience of working in a Highly regulated environment
  • If you have the following characteristics, it would be a plus:
  • Degree or HND is relevant area.
  • Detailed knowledge and understanding of computer systems, operating systems and process control applications.
  • Detailed working knowledge of current GAMP standards.
  • Knowledge and understanding of Data Integrity (ALCOA) concepts.
  • Knowledge and understanding of Operational Technology (OT) and Cyber Security.
  • Knowledge and understanding of pharmaceutical manufacturing processes and the impact of regulatory requirements.
  • Ability to plan, organize and communicate effectively at all levels.
  • Ability to manage small groups of company or contract staff efficiently and economically to a common objective.
  • Secondary manufacturing experience
