Job Description:

Our team of children’s research nurses deliver world-class care to patients participating in clinical trials across our NIHR Clinical Research Facility (CRF), Biomedical Research Centre (BRC) and Clinical Research Network: North Thames. Some of our recent successes include the Summit plc trial, to which the first two global patients were recruited in the CRF. The CRF has supported a BioMarin Pharmaceuticals sponsored clinical trial that has led to the clinical development and approval of a drug called VIMIZIM as a treatment for Morquio A syndrome. These successes demonstrate the importance of the research nurse contribution in continuing to deliver high quality and complex clinical studies for paediatric and rare diseases.


  • Due to expansion of the team, we are looking to recruit a motivated, enthusiastic individual with a passion for research to support the training and education needs of the clinical research delivery team within the division of Research and Innovation.
  • The position is for 1 year fixed term, 0.5 WTE.You will work alongside the Practice Educator to facilitate the training, education and continuing professional development of the clinical research delivery team across the division.
  • The role will cover a variety of skills including generic and specialty-related skills, leadership and management and research skills.
  • The post holder will also be responsible for student placements, clinical simulation, skill sign off, planning, creating and delivering teaching sessions as well as providing ad-hoc support and guidance while promoting and preserving the standards of Good Clinical Practice.
  • You will have the support and oversight of the Practice Educator for Research and Innovation.


  • You must have appropriate UK professional registration.
  • This post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exceptions) Order 1975 (Amendment) (England and Wales) Order 2020 and it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service.
